In regards to cats "kneading" whatever surface they're on, do you happen to know why felines do that? Or is it just an unexplained cat mannerism that's cute as can be?
I’ve read a few posts from cat blogs and elsewhere that said no one really knows for sure why cats do it. There are a few common explanations, like that they do it when they’re really relaxed or that they’re marking their territory, and I also know that it’s often explained as an instinctive behavior (kittens do it when nursing to help get more milk from their mothers). Overall, though, I think it’s a positive thing and that your cat is enjoying itself while doing it!
I don't remember how long ago I heard my friend say it, but one time my kitten was kneading on her and she told him to stop it with the starfish paws and now I've been calling it "Starfish Paws" ever since!
